I have decided to ressurect the blog. Not for fundraising purposes this time- but more for the sake of keeping interested parties up to date ( the few of them that do exist) and i realized recently that beingg able to go back and read about my own perspectives on my experiences last time was actually really great.
So. Here we are again. I have another ironman ahead of me on September 26th, plus 1 half ironman ( which i have already completed) 2 Olympics races and one century ride. Ill track my progress on here along with any particularly poignant insights i may have. but really, dont hold your breath.
So far training is going pretty well. My volume is way up, especially now that its summer time but i definatly am feeling the pressure since the ironman is a good month and a half earlier than it was last year, meaning i have less time to get ready for it. Ive been trying to get in some pretty substantial weekend rides in - including an 86 mile ride completed in southern indiana last weekend. the hills were a challenge but boosted my confidence.
the season started out well with my age group win in the Half Ironman i did last month. From now on i will give detailed race reports but the long and short of the High Cliff triathlon were the following
1) it was hot as balls.
2) high cliff is actually a high cliff
3) I should really review course maps as i did NOT Know you had to cycle AND run up high cliff
4) my run was a little lame as the heat and difficulty of the bike course cought up with me. Im pretty sure i was more dehydrated after this race than after Ironman #1.
but it was a good first race of the season- and i collected another win so fine by me. From here on out, i promise posts will be a little more focused and interesting.... I am racing the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon out in Minneapolis this weekend which i am very excited about. So ill keep y'all posted.
