Season in T-5 days

First race in 5 days and I am super pumped! i still need to get a few things before i go. I managed to lose my stupid pedal wrench in the process of my move so i should purchase a new one. also, i have never ever been able to put my pedals back on without any help so that may be tonights project... trying to teach myself. or I will forever remain in debt to race site maintanence for putting the finishing touches on my bike when i travel with it.

As a whole, im not too concerned about the weekend. distance-wise iw ould say my training swims/runs/bikes range from being twice to about 4 times a long as this race so thats not an issue. what the element of sprint racing does give me... is well the sprint itself. i dont spend too much of my time training my speed, and shorter races really test that and push my limit. I am, and pforever will be, a distance athlete despite my "compact" (read: short) frame.

Either way i think this is a great race to kick off my season. I need to start really thinking about what i need to accomplish before my distance races ( a good nutrition plan etc, buying a wetsuit... practiciing in a wetsuit etc) and i just need to continue writing my schedules ahead of time.


I think that next week will be the first week i switch up my schedule a bit. up until now i have been taking fridays off, which means the day before my two long weekend workouts off. The idea behind this is to recover before you really kill the muscles. However, my weekend workouts are starting to get super long, with the onset of actual ironman training, and i think it would be advatageous to have the day AFTER the long weekend workouts off... so Monday. i think I will start this next week, ie, the day after i get back from Race #1. I am also starting to revamp my work schedule for the summer (taking some time off before going back to school) so i may rework it so that i do long workouts of fridays and saturday and take sundays, a day with no work, off. We will see how this pans out.

Ok i have to get back to making a list of everything to take to this race, because inevirtably i will forget something. Lets hope its not my sunglasses, like that one time in new york; a mistake that led to me losing a contact lens during my run becuase my eyes were so dried out from biking without my glasses on....
