...and we have a schedule

Ok so finally after a few weeks of trying to figure out what my racing schedule for 2008 will, it looks like it will be the following

June 10th - Yorktown Virginia (Sprint Distance)
July 13th - Grand Haven, MI (International Distance ) *tentative...the registration sight isnt up yet

August 10th- Greater Cleveland Triathlon (Half Iron Distance)- What a great way to celebrate the two days before my birthday

Sept 14th - Nations Triathlon Washington D.C

NOV 1st - IRONMAN FLORIDA- Panama City FL

This seems like a pretty balanced schedule to me... peak out in August should give me a good "fitness check" and test out my training progress.

getting together my racing schedule means i also have to try to figure out my training schedule, which unfortuantly is a daunting task in and of itself. Im pretty sure i am going to be kicking myself a few months from now when i realize what i have gotten myself into. Right now, I am rockin out a "maintenance" plan which involves a six day a week training schedule-
monday -wednesday: Swim +run, Swim + bike, Bike and Run.
Thursday: Long swim
Friday: OFF! (thank god)
Saturday: long run, atlest 10 miles. sometimes a swim or bike tacked on
Sunday: long bike

these week day workouts are usually 1hour 45 minuts to about 2.5 hours total while weekend usually adds up to about 2-3. Once real training starts though, the weekday workouts will be a little longer than this (though not by that much) but the weekends will start to take on a whole new form.

I found a plan that has a 20 week Ironman schedule that i think is appropriate, so 5 months. If ironman is in November then I guess June is when the "hard core" training starts, which works out well because the weather will be nice and i dont have to spend hours ony stupid trainer like i do now. this post hass been long but soon i will put up links to my favorite workout plans and one that i make for myself.
